Declaration of Independence Memorial
It is located in Melaka town and close to historical effects, such as A Famosa and replica of the Melaka Sultanate Palace. In front of this memorial is the Town Square. This building was built in 1911. Before the building known as the Malacca Cub. The building is also used for social events and the top government officials in the British colonial rule. After independence, the club is open to the public. Then on August 31, 1985, it is a memorial building that includes all document of freedom.
This memorial was established to collect documents about the country’s independence. In addition, the exhibition in this building include the Malacca Sultanate era until Malaya gained independence in 1957. Items on display include documents, photographs, maps, treaties, speeches, tape recordings, minutes of meetings, magazine, newspaper clipping artifacts and materials related to the struggle for independence.
